The Canon Digital Powershot is a pocket sized digital camera that’s capable of taking high quality photographs. There are quite a few different cameras in the Powershot line, with pixellage ranging anywhere from four to 12 mega pixels.

As an example, the digital Elph is a budget minded middle of the line Powershot that takes colourful photos at ten megapixels and has a 3x optical zoom. The Powershot SX20 shoots HD movies, has a twenty x optical zoom and 12.1 megapixels.

Digitals that are pocket sized are versatile and can be carried anywhere, in a pocket, or tucked into a bag. There is not any heavy gear to lug around like pro cameras but it takes beautiful and colourful photographs. The Powershots also feature image stabilization, which gives an advantage in low light. The HD videos have sound and various shooting modes.

The Canons have 2.5 in. LCD screens and a DIGIC 4 processor, which uses a face detected technology to track moving faces and keep them in focus till the photographer is ready to shoot the picture.

The Canon Powershots use another technology called intelligent contrast correction. This adjusts brights and dark contrasts in the images so there’s a more balanced image shot. And red eye correction is done in camera, so no post image enhancing software is required.

One thing about tiny digitals is that the camera zooms, as dynamic as they are have a tendency to get unrefined and unfocused at high settings. A plus is that the Powershot averages at only a few hundred greenbacks, and is great for budget minded people who still want to be able to take good footage.

And adjustments like speed settings and ISO helps the user to fix pictures in the camera. This way pictures can go direct to the printer from the camera so there is no post processing required.
